Maan Jao Naa - Movie Review (3/5 Stars)

By: Aniq Arshad

February started with Maan Jao Naa, a romantic comedy written by “Khaani” famed Asma Nabeel and directed by Aabis Raza released by Hum TV. Maan Jao Naa looked like a colorful fun ride from the trailers and luckily it delivered just that.

Maan Jao Naa with its well-paced screenplay is a complete family picture. Story revolves around a naive girl Hania who couldn’t differentiate between friends and foes, played by Naaz Nourozi an Iranian actress with portfolio that also contains some work from the neighboring Bollywood. If you talk about the originality of the plot then definitely Maan Jao Naa gets into the cliched friendship turned love category where one of the protagonist never gets the otherwise obvious attraction of the other. But the treatment/execution is fun and entertaining that’s where Maan Jao Naa excels.

All the characters have done well with in their scope, including Adeel Chaudhry as Faris the lover boy, Naaz Nourozi as arrogant naïve girl, Naeem Haq as the antagonist along with Ayaz Samoo and Hajra Yamin providing comic relief throughout.

The Music of the film is refreshing with songs like Rung laga having the potential to be the new youth anthem for college parties and Ishq Beekar song can top the upcoming wedding season. Choreography and the dance performances all match superbly to the tunes which is also refreshing to watch with in a Pakistani film.

Aabis Raza ‘s direction keeps all the elements together and never let it go out of fun light entertainment zone. Yes, if you are looking for big stars, complex plot twists, heavy characters and loud moments then this is not for you, but if you want to have some good time with laughable moments and pleasing visuals then this is the film for you. This film is for masses, I go with 3 stars.
