Usually Post EID there is nothing fancy to look forward to in cinemas as every film maker tries to take benefit of Eid crowd . But still for UAE we have quite cool releases to look forward to after Eid.

Kangana Ranaut is one of my most favorite actress to watch on screen. Her performance is always perfectly layered that even if the movie is a dud, her simply being on screen makes the experience enjoyable (like what happened with Rangoon, if you minus Kangana from the equation the whole outcome goes to the negative side). Simran, has very Queen like Vibes. From the promotional materials Simran seems like a coming of age drama that shows a girl challenging norms of desi society and values. Hopefully Kangana can give another National Award worthy performance with the entertainment value of Queen with this one..
21st Sept 2017 – Kingsman: The Golden Circle
Kingsman – Do I really need to say anything here, Kingsman 1 was the James Bond movie we never had. Based on a Comic book “The secret service” (now named as the first movie), Kingsman: The Secret Service was the refreshing, edgy and cool take on the action spy genre, which was missing from the scene and that’s what made the first one an instant hit. Kingsman: The Golden Circle seems to continue from the previous installment except the style quotient of the movie is 10 times enhanced with the addition of Julianne Moore, Channing Tatum and Halle Berry. In the 1:48 minutes of the trailer you see big explosions, flying suited men, car chases, a bionic henchman, a suited man with a whip/lash and a cow boy firing a shot gun, it can’t get any sexier than that.
28th Sept 2017 – Flatliners or Judwaa 2
When it takes 27 years to come up with a sequel you can expect it to be good. Yes, Niels Arden Oplev’s ‘Flatliners’ is a sequel to 1990 hit/cult movie of the same name directed by Joel Schumacher. What worked for me when I watched the trailer was the freshness of the idea (off course I haven’t seen the 1990s Flatliners and only today found about it while reading about the movie). To know what happens after death is the most discussed topic of all time and this movie delves into it with a horror/thriller angle making it even more interesting. In the trailer, we see bunch of medical student stopping their hearts for couple of minutes to see what happens after they die. Interfering with the natural order always has consequences and what are the consequences of these young doctor meddling with the death is what I expect this movie to be about. Apart from the freshness of the Idea (which I now find out is not so fresh and is more like a forgotten idea and now being renewed) I don’t see any other reason to go for this one. So, if the idea doesn’t attract you I will suggest you go for Judwaa 2. Which is also rebooted version of 1997 hit movie of the same name by the same director David Dhawan. Judwaa 2 is more colorful and belongs to the usual Desi commercial entertainer category.
Personally, I didn’t find any trailer to be exciting enough for me to go to cinema. Varun Dhawan looks just the way he looked in his every other film Loud, Hyper and Shirtless, I wish he could do more movies like Badlapur as he has the potential. But still team is good and should be given benefit of the doubt.
