Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2 - Movie Review (3.5 / 5 Stars)

Jawani Phir Nahi Ani was the first film I reviewed when I started this blog in 2015 and I revisited the review again today and amazingly that review is valid for Jawani Phir nahi Ani 2 as well. The only thing that has changed from the first film is when the love story of Sherry takes over in the second half , film takes a relatively serious tone this time.

Script just like the first one is not important. Story line is illogical and requires you to leave your brain at home to fully enjoy. Screenplay is well paced and balanced. There are no dull moments and every character gets ample screen time , importance and jokes. First part is shot in Turkey and focus is mainly on Fahad Mustafa's story line, which has the usual silly comedic tone of the original Jawani Phir Nahi Ani part 1. Second part is shot in Dubai and focus is on the love story of Humayun Saeed and this one resembles Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge a lot with relative similar serious romantic tone. For comedy film relies on witty, current and smart jokes and uses famous meme statements from Pakistan like "Mujhay Kyon Nikala" beautifully rather than loud, animated, over the top style of comedy which is quite refreshing. The only negative that I can think of is that, the India Pakistan banter in the second half was way too much and had a very serious tone that did not blend in with the rest of the film but movie by the end picks up again towards the usual tone.

Every one has reprised their roles from the first one except Hamza Ali Abbasi and Ayesha Khan . To cover for them we have Fahad Mustafa and Mawra Hocane. Every one has performed well. Script gives each character enough scope to shine and they have all done justice. For me Ahmed Ali Butt is the highlight of this star studded spectacular. Along with him Suhail Ahmed as Balani, Kanwaljit Singh as Nawab and Kubra Khan as Selina are also exceptionally entertaining. I must say Kubra khan has successfully transitioned as a film star with immense screen presence and charisma.
Music was enjoyable and choreography was pleasant as well. Direction is superb and brings the best out of the situational comedy moments.

Overall a very light and entertaining cinema experience, perfect for desi families. There is a very interesting cameo towards the end , wait for it. I go with 3.5 stars.
