Summer is the perfect time for movie goers, so many big releases from all the industries that I follow (Hollywood, Bollywood and Lollywood). July has been the biggest month so far and we are still not done. So far in July we had Dwayne Johnson’s Skyscraper and Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp being released and now for the remaining 2 weeks we have three more releases one from each industry. Starting with a Pakistani release on 19th July followed by Star child debut project Dhadak being released on 20th July from India and ending with recent installment in the Mission Impossible franchise being released on 26th July.
Genre: Action Comedy
Running Time: 175 min
Release Date: 19 July 2018
Starring: Ali Zafar, Javed Sheikh, Maya Ali
Language: Urdu
Subtitle(s): Arabic, English
As far as the plot goes, Teefa goes to Poland to bring Anya to Pakistan to marry gangster Butt's son but gets into trouble with Anya's gangster father and the police. This film marks the debut of Ali Zafar in Pakistan film industry along with Maya Ali. Both Ali Zafar and Maya Ali are already huge stars in Pakistan and the way this film is marketed/distributed I don’t expect anything less than a hit. This film is directed by Ahsan Rahim who is behind many hit comedic music videos already. Overall trailer looks fresh nothing seems inspired or copied like recent releases from Pakistan film industry. Songs are super catchy and melodious too, ‘Chan Ve’ is my recent favorite and is playing on repeat in my playlist. I expect this film to super fun and perfect for a good family time at cinema.
Genre: Romance
Running Time: 155 min
Release Date: 20 July 2018
Starring: Ishaan Khattar, Janvi Kapoor
Language: Hindi
Subtitle(s): Arabic, English
Dhadak marks the debut of Jhanvi Kapoor the daughter of India’s first female super star Late Sri Devi and I guess that reason is enough to bring Bollywood audience to the cinema, apart from it being a Dharma production and remake of first 100 crore Marathi film Sairat. What I liked about Sairat was how relatable the characters were, from their outlook to behavior but Dhadak appears a lot more glamorous off course as its Dharma Production. And this is my only worry here, I hope in this remake makers keep the focus on original intense love story and no get distracted by the star child persona of the lead or the glamour requirement of Dharma Productions. I still high expectation from this and we will find out this Friday.
Genre: Action
Running Time: 150 min
Release Date: 26 July 2018
Starring: Henry Cavill, Tom Cruise, Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg
Language: English
Subtitle(s): Arabic
Who doesn’t like our beloved agent Ethan Hunt on impossible missions defying death and doing the unthinkable, from climbing the exterior world’s tallest building Burj Khalifa to stuck outside a flying plane. We have seen him do it all and I expect no less this time as well. This time as per plot, when an IMF mission ends badly, the world is faced with dire consequences. As Ethan Hunt takes it upon himself to fulfill his original briefing, the CIA begins to question his loyalty and his motives. Hunt finds himself in a race against time, hunted by assassins and former allies while trying to prevent a global catastrophe.
I don’t like when all the main stunts and action is already shown in the trailer of the movie, so for that reason I have not seen any trailer apart from the ones which were screened in cinema. I am super excited for this release and knowing that our mustached Superman is also in the cast , expectation level has a gone a level up.
